Hexagram 52
Hexagram 52: Keeping Still
艮 (Gèn)
Meditation, stillness, and the wisdom of knowing when to stop.
Overview
Lately your life has been one event after another, and you have taken real pleasure in that. Things went well thanks to your endless energy.
Then at some point all that furious activity started to fade, and a quiet time took its place.
Your life went still. There is nothing wrong in that. It is not the collapse of your plans, only a different state. You cannot spin forever in a whirlpool of events, with no strength and no will left to judge what is happening. Being so caught up in events kept you from seeing yourself and your own activity clearly. Now, at last, you can.
People around you
Start with a careful look at your relationships with the people around you. This is the most urgent task now. You do not quite understand what is going on around you. One question in particular troubles you: how do the people around you feel about you?
Try to look at how you deal with people as if from the outside. It is quite possible that you are judging events unfairly. Until you can settle this important question, you will not see any prospects at all.
Work
While you work on that difficult question, put things in order at work as well. Whether you like it or not, you have to set your plans for the future aside for a while. Stepping back from your own intentions is not the collapse of everything in your life.
Fate is simply hinting that some of your ideas run against what lies ahead. Until you have corrected them properly, do not count on success.
Your wish
Your wish cannot come true yet. This is not your fault and not your mistake. This period of life is simply a poor time for serious undertakings. What this sign asks for is concentration. Give your full attention to what is happening, and you will certainly find a good way out of the situation.
