Hexagram 5: Waiting

There is an old Chinese story. A man was upset because his young plants were growing badly. He went out to the field and pulled every sprout upward with his hands. At home he said what good work he had done that day to help them grow. When he came back to the field, the sprouts had dried up.

The deeper meaning of your situation is the need to wait. You have wonderful plans and you want to see them happen at once. But fate does not move at the speed of your wishes. Everything will come true, though only if you learn to wait patiently, without irritation, and without "pulling the sprouts up by hand."

That does not mean nothing depends on you, or that you should step aside. You are the main character here. It is for you that fate is growing these plants with such care.

People around you

Put your attention where your talents can show, and your relationships with the people around you are one such place. Plant the seeds of future connections. If you like someone, make contact, and trust your heart. One sign of good intuition is that people cannot deceive you. Develop that gift. It will get you out of hard situations more than once.

Work and rest

Learn to combine work with rest. How much you manage to do in your life depends on that balance. You should not only work, and you should not only enjoy yourself.
